Alessandro Del Piero notes that Inter and Juventus were like ‘boxers without a guard’ during Sunday’s 4-4 draw but insists the Nerazzurri have more regrets.

The Juventus legend discussed the Bianconeri’s latest draw at San Siro against Inter during Sky Sport Italia’s post-match show on Sunday.

“Inter had more than one or two chances to make it 5-2, and I believe this is Inter’s greatest regret, along with some distractions,” he said.

“They had four, five, six chances to score a goal. Di Gregorio was like a superhero, and the ball went inches wide, but they didn’t score the fifth.

“The teams were like boxers without a guard who said: ‘we no longer defend, we just fight, and we see how it ends.’

“Yildiz had that flash, but the whole Juve had a big personality. They weren’t discouraged when Inter created a goal-scoring opportunity with every attack.”

Another ex-Juventus striker, Paolo Di Canio, was happy to see that the show prevailed at San Siro last night despite the two teams’ “defensive disasters.”

Juventus are still unbeaten in Serie A, but they currently sit third, five points below table leaders Napoli. Inter have just one more point than the Bianconeri.

The Nerazzurri will face Empoli away on Wednesday when Juventus will host Parma at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Del Piero spent 19 years at Juventus, scoring 290 goals in 705 appearances. He’s the club’s best scorer and the player with the most appearances.

The former striker won several Serie A titles and a Champions League in Turin. He became World Cup champion with Italy in 2006.
