Milan Chairman Paolo Scaroni has slammed the decision to postpone the Serie A match between Bologna and the Rossoneri, originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, labelling the local authorities’ decision as ‘incomprehensible’.

Bologna-Milan was officially postponed on Friday due to flooding and further extreme weather warnings in the Emilia-Romagna region over the past week.

Scaroni slams Bologna-Milan postponement

The game will not be played at a neutral venue, or behind closed doors, and will instead be completely rearranged at a later date. Due to Bologna and Milan’s commitments in the Champions League and Coppa Italia, the earliest possible date to play the fixture will be in January.

Speaking outside the emergence Lega Serie A meeting on Friday, Scaroni expressed his massive disappointment that the game will not be able to go ahead. He had been pushing to get the game on.

“It’s an incomprehensible decision in my opinion,” the Rossoneri executive said.

“The mayor has prohibited the game from being played behind closed doors, I don’t understand why, but we must bow our heads and respect the mayor’s orders.”

Unfortunately for Milan, their two suspended players Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders will now be ruled out of the top-of-the-table clash against Napoli next weekend, instead of the game against 12th-placed Bologna.
