Samuel Iling-Junior insists he wants to ‘get a result’ for Bologna against parent club Aston Villa and praises Morgan Rogers: ‘He’s flying. You can only pray.’

Aston Villa loanee Iling-Junior, a former Juventus winger, starts on the bench for Bologna in a Champions League fixture at Villa Park this evening.

The Englishman spoke to TNT Sports prior to kick-off.

“It was a fixture I looked at. Every game is an occasion, and I am excited to play,” he said.

“I see it as an occasion and I want to enjoy the game. I want to get a result for my club at the moment.”

Iling-Junior left Chelsea in 2020 to join Juventus and made 45 competitive appearances with the Bianconeri senior team.

Not many English players leave their home country to continue their development abroad.

“I am proud; it’s still a long way to go. You use everything you’ve learned and different cultures,” he said.

Aston Villa talent Rogers starts for Aston Villa this evening. He has two goals and two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions this term.

“He’s flying. You can only pray. I’m happy for him; long may he continue,” concluded Iling-Junior.
