Inter have issued an official update on Francesco Acerbi’s condition, as the outcome of the medical tests confirmed the defender is almost sure to be ruled out for the Nerazzurri’s clash against Juventus on Sunday.

Acerbi was subbed off moments before the half-hour mark of Inter’s 1-0 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico due to a muscular problem, and his presence in the upcoming Derby d’Italia was already improbable.

Inter issue update on Acerbi’s condition

An official statement published by Inter read that Acerbi sustained ‘a strain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh’, as revealed by an MRI scan undergone on Tuesday.

While his condition will be ‘assessed on a day-to-day basis’, it is expected that the centre-back won’t take part in Inter’s home fixture against archrivals Juventus.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia via Fcinternews, Acerbi should return for his side’s away trip at Empoli on 30 October or the following match against Venezia at the very latest.

The 36-year-old was only one of two Inter players injured during their game at the Stadio Olimpico, as Calhanoglu was subbed off a few minutes before the Italian defender due to a similar muscular problem and is also set to be out against the Bianconeri.
