Mario Balotelli is waiting for Genoa’s final decision but ‘can’t wait’ to join the Grifone, says his agent Enzo Raiola.

Balotelli is available as a free agent, and his agent Raiola confirmed on Friday that his client had reached an agreement with Serie A strugglers Genoa.

Agent: Balotelli ‘can’t wait’ to join Genoa

“I am lucky enough to have known [Genoa President Alberto] Zangrillo for a long time, and I know he’s a big admirer of Mario. It would be a pleasure to bring him to his club,” Raiola told Radio Sportiva as quoted by TMW.

“We are waiting for Genoa’s technical decision. We know what Mario can give, and he’s ready. He can’t wait, so we hope we can do this marriage quickly. Surely, we’ll understand if we can close the deal after the Bologna game.”

Genoa President Zangrillo, who is not the club owner, said on Thursday that he was happy to welcome the former Milan, Inter, Liverpool and Manchester City forward.

Zangrillo added that Balotelli has potentially been the best Italian centre-forward in the last 20 years.

Nevertheless, Genoa directors must make a final decision, and it won’t come before next week.

Balotelli has been without a club since his contract with Turkish side Adana Demirspor expired in June.

Genoa host Bologna at Marassi on Saturday. Their coach, Alberto Gilardino, is under pressure, having earned just one point in the last five matches, losing the last three games in a row.
