Mateo Retegui leads the way in this week’s best performing Italy XI from this weekend’s round of top-flight fixtures after a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 5-1 thrashing of Genoa on Saturday afternoon. 

The Azzurri striker earned an average rating of 8.5 from the Italian press, and is now the outright leading scorer in Serie A with seven goals and an additional assist from his first seven matches of the 2024-25 campaign. 

The other standout performers from this week’s round of Serie A fixtures include Monza forward Daniel Maldini, who has been rewarded with a call-up to the Luciano Spalletti’s Azurri squad for the first time. He came away with an average rating of 7/10. 

That same rating was also handed out to Mattia Zaccagni of Lazio, Gaetano Oristanio of Venezia, Alessandro Buongiorno of Inter and Simone Scuffet of Cagliari
