Troubled Fiorentina host Welsh side The New Saints in a Conference League match at the Stadio Franchi this evening, but Raffaele Palladino is short of options in defence.

It kicks off at 21:00 CET (19:00 GMT) in Florence.

It’s the opening Conference League match this season, a competition that saw Fiorentina reach the Final in the previous two editions, losing to West Ham in 2023 and Olympiacos in 2024.

The Tuscans are without four central defenders: Luca Ranieri, Lucas Martinez Quarta and Pietro Comuzzo are suspended, while Marin Pongracic is injured.

Therefore, Michael Kayode and Cristiano Biraghi are expected to start in a three-man defence, joining the debutant Matias Moreno.

There will be rotations all over the pitch, with Yacine Adli starting in the middle of the park, Fabiano Parisi on the left flank, Jonathan Ikoné, Riccardo Sottil and Nicolas Beltran in the attack.

Fiorentina have only won one Serie A match this season, collecting seven points in the opening six outings.

Fiorentina vs. The New Saints – probable line-ups

Fiorentina (3-4-2-1): Terracciano; Kayode, Moreno, Biraghi; Dodò, Richardson, Adli, Parisi; Ikoné, Sottil; Beltran.

The New Saints (4-3-3): Roberts; Daniels, Davies, Bodenham, Redmond; Holden, D. Williams, Smith; Wilson, Oteh, Bradley.
