Lazio paid a moving tribute to coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, who won the Scudetto, Cup Winners’ Cup, UEFA Super Cup and more with the club.
The Swedish tactician died on Monday at the age of 76, having announced in January that he had terminal cancer.
He went on to inspire everyone with his attitude to the diagnosis, using his remaining time to visit his old clubs and make a few dreams come true, such as coaching Liverpool at Anfield Road.
The video shown on the Stadio Olimpico screens had his moments of glory at Lazio, but also the footage from his recent visit to the same arena, where he got to see all the love that people still had for him and always will.
Dario Marcolin, who was part of that legendary Lazio squad, then walked out with a special shirt dedicated to Eriksson.
It was all played to Frank Sinatra singing My Way.
The banners from supporters including thanks for making their childhood so happy with those wins and the message: ‘Bon voyage, Mr Sven.’
