Atletico Madrid have renewed their interest in signing Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina before the close of the summer transfer window, despite a recent approach from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce lead Atletico in Amrabat race

La Viola are hoping to sell the former Manchester United loanee before the end of the transfer window, despite the fact that Raffaele Palladino started him in both of the team’s first two Serie A matches of the season.

Fenerbahce had come forward with a proposal worth €15m for Amrabat, and according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, they remain ahead in negotiations with Fiorentina.

Atletico, who first expressed their interest in signing Amrabat at the end of July, have since contacted Fiorentina to discuss a possible deal.

The 28-year-old spent the 2023-24 season on loan in the Premier League with Manchester United, who spent around €10m to bring him to Old Trafford for the season. Erik ten Hag and his team later decided against activating the €25m buy option they negotiated at the beginning of the campaign.
