Simone Inzaghi sees the appointment of Beppe Marotta as new Inter President to be a ‘sign of continuity’ for the club and reiterates he’ll extend his contract.

The Nerazzurri were plunged into crisis when owners Suning, represented by the Zhang family, failed to repay the nearly €400m in loans including interest.

That saw Oaktree effectively repossess the club, but they have been eager not to rock the boat too much, maintaining the same directorial team.

Today it was announced that CEO Marotta has been promoted to the role of President, replacing Steven Zhang, though he had already been doing much of the work himself for the last two years anyway.

“Marotta represents continuity, so I am happy,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We all know him and the type of person he is, so he will certainly do well.”

Marotta to extend Inzaghi contract

Among the first tasks for Marotta to complete are the contract extensions for star players Lautaro Martinez and Nicolò Barella, as well as a new deal for coach Inzaghi.

“We will meet up, there is no problem. We have a great rapport,” assured the tactician.

Inzaghi is set for a pay rise after securing his first Serie A title, but in three seasons has also taken Inter to the Champions League Final, two editions of the Coppa Italia and three of the Italian Super Cup.
