According to reports in Italy, Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio have asked Sunderland for attacking winger Jack Clarke.
There is interest from the Biancocelesti, as confirmed by both Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia.
The 23-year-old is under contract with the Black Cats until June 2026 and Sky Sport Italia warn they do not seem particularly intent on listening to proposals.
Clarke spent time in the youth academies of Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur paid €11m to sign him in the summer of 2019.
There were loan spells at QPR and Stoke City before the transfer to Sunderland for a reported €1m plus a 25 per cent cut of the future transfer fee.
Clarke made 29 Championship appearances this season – the English version of Serie B – contributing 13 goals and three assists.
Able to play on the left or the right wing, he is seen as a valuable alternative to Mattia Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson.
Lazio have rather a thin squad, considering they will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16.
