Claudio Marchisio, Alessio Tacchinardi, Darko Kovacevic and Massimo Mauro predict which Juventus player can make the difference on Sunday when the Bianconeri host Inter at the Allianz Stadium.
We are not even halfway in the 2023-24 campaign, but Juventus and Inter are already preparing for a key meeting in Turin this coming Sunday.
Simone Inzaghi’s men are two points clear of Juventus on top of the Serie A table, while other potential Scudetto contenders are struggling behind them. Milan have only won one of the last five league matches, while Napoli won two and changed their coach, replacing Rudi Garcia with Walter Mazzarri, during the international break.
On the other hand, Juventus won the last five Serie A games, while Inter won four, drawing once.
Four ex-Juventus stars, Marchisio, Kovacevic, Mauro and Tacchinardi, previewed Sunday’s meeting at the Allianz Stadium in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport (Tuesday’s printed edition, page 14), predicting which Juventus players could make the difference against the Nerazzurri.
MARCHISIO – “It will be an important Derby d’Italia, Juventus and Inter are doing well even if they are following different paths. Inter are superior in terms of players, playing style and experience, but Juventus have proved they know how to suffer and have been consistent. I hope it will be a thrilling match and I think Federico Chiesa could be the key man.”
MAURO – “I think the key man could be a surprise, as it happened in the games before the break. I think of Weston McKennie’s late runs. He usually scores some goals and he hasn’t yet found the net this season. Or maybe, a goal could come from a shoot of Adrien Rabiot. Sunday’s game could be favourable to Juventus tactically if they play well on counter-attacks.”
KOVACEVIC – “We play at home, so Juventus must try to win and go top of the table. The key man could be Dusan Vlahovic. These big games usually give motivation to overcome difficult moments. I hope Allegri will rely on him and that Dusan will make the most of the time to end his goal drought.”
TACCHINARDI – “The key man for Allegri must be the hunger. They must be determined to beat a strong team like Inter, greatly coached by Simone Inzaghi. It’s time for Juventus to be a winning team again, like in my time. Details will make the difference. A shoot from outside the box, a corner kick or a counter-attack could be enough.”
