Riccardo Orsolini spoke about Bologna’s strong form this season and was honest when discussing Fiorentina’s interest, believing the Viola ‘aren’t a step forward’ for his career.

The 26-year-old Italian winger is one of the most important players in Thiago Motta’s squad in Emilia-Romagna, scoring four goals across the first 11 league games of the season. Last term, he provided 15 direct goal contributions in Serie A.

Orsolini has regularly been linked with moves away from Bologna over the last few years, being linked to clubs like Lazio, Fulham, Napoli and Fiorentina. In the summer, he penned a new four-year deal with the Rossoblu.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Orsolini first looked ahead to Bologna’s upcoming Serie A clash with Fiorentina.

“We want to continue this positive streak. Certainly, the match in Florence will be an important moment, which’ll make us understand where we can go. They’re a very good team.”

He touched on the strengths of Vincenzo Italiano’s Viola, who currently sit eighth in the league table after 11 matches.

“They’re very strong, well coached. They’ve already been in the Conference League for two years. They’re a team that stand alone, strong. I think it’ll be a good game.”

Finally, Orsolini was honest when asked about Fiorentina’s interest in him over the last few years.

“I’ll tell you the truth. My agent has often spoken to me about the possibility, about an interest. I’m talking about two years ago already.

“I have always said, with the utmost respect, that I wanted to stay here. Because I have been with Bologna for many years and then because they’re not a step forward.”
