11 Union Berlin fans were arrested after scenes of vandalism and violence in the streets of Napoli ahead of the Champions League clash.
As reported by ANSA, a large group of Union ultras gathered last night at the Piazza Garibaldi train station. They refused to submit to checks and around 300 – all dressed similarly and disguised with bandanas – descended on the streets of the Campania capital.
The German ultras damaged parked cars and street furniture, repeatedly attacking police with stones, clubs and firecrackers. A shop in Piazza Dante was briefly the focus of the destruction, leaving it devastated.
10 of these fans were arrested and will be subject to international Daspos. At the same time, staff from the Secondigliano police station arrested another Union fan, who was responsible for attacking and insulting a public official.
Various videos showing the scenes of destruction and violence have spread on social media, showing the scale of the clashes.
