France superstar Kylian Mbappé gave his compatriot Benjamin Pavard the captain armband for the final minutes of their game against Scotland last night, while Olivier Giroud told the Inter defender he was like ‘a real striker.’
Pavard scored a brace in seven minutes in France’s 4-1 win over Scotland on Tuesday, overcoming Ousmane Dembélé for goals scored with Les Blues.
His teammate Mbappé was so impressed that he handed the Inter defender the France captaincy for the final minutes of the game.
At the same time, Milan striker Olivier Giroud praised Pavard during a post-match interview with reporters in the mixed zone.
“He scored two goals, so congratulations,” said the Rossoneri star.
“I told him he was a real striker, I am super happy for him and the team.”
Pavard has also become the first France defender to score a brace since Mamadou Sakho in 2013 against Ukraine.
The France defender joined Inter from Bayern Munich last summer and has made five appearances with the Nerazzurri this term.
