Federico Pastorello, the agent of Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij, admitted there was interest in his client in the summer before a new two-year deal was signed.

The 31-year-old Dutch defender was technically a free agent for a week after his contract expired at the start of July, but a new deal was officially confirmed on the 8th, which extended his stay to 2025.

De Vrij has been with Inter since the summer of 2018, when he joined on a free transfer after his contract expired with Lazio. He has been a core part of the squad since arriving, playing in over 200 matches for the club.

Speaking to Radio Sportiva via Calciomercato.com, Pastorello was asked about his client De Vrij’s plans for the future after his latest contract renewal with Inter.

“Stefan is very happy with his contract renewal. We had interest, but we never investigated it. He’s focused on trying to win the Scudetto, which is what he hopes for.”

De Vrij has continued to feature regularly under Simone Inzaghi this season, seeing 493 minutes of action across eight games in Serie A and the Champions League.
