Fans and journalists reacted to Milan’s goalless draw with Newcastle United in the Champions League by lamenting the Rossoneri’s wastefulness and highlighting the Magpies’ satisfaction.

Stefano Pioli’s side were mostly in the driving seat at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza but failed to reward their home fans as they struggled to break down the Newcastle defence.

Milan had countless chances across the 90 minutes, taking 25 shots with a combined xG of 2.08, but failed to find the back of the net once, forcing them to share the points with the Magpies, who’ll be overjoyed with the result.

Considering that Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund join Milan and Newcastle in Group F, a draw is a painful result for the Rossoneri as they look to find a way out of the perceived ‘group of death’.

Milan’s toothless was the narrative of the match and this dominated the post-match discourse amongst fans and journalists, who either expressed their frustration or noted the positives for Newcastle.

  1. Not a great result for Milan. That was probably their easiest game in this group so they should have won the three points.
