at the end of the summer transfer window, touching briefly on his experience in Serie A with his former club.

The Morocco international moved to Old Trafford on an initial loan deal worth €10m, with an option to buy for a further €20m plus €5m in add-ons, bringing to an end a three-year spell with La Viola.

Amrabat was asked almost immediately by a United club journalist how important his time with Fiorentina was for his growth and development.

He responded: “I had a fantastic time there, three years. Fiorentina is, I think, a fantastic club. Especially when you are young, to develop, to learn, the Italian league is a strong league, so it was a good time.”

The 27-year-old will be the first ever Moroccan to play for United. It was with his country that Amrabat announced himself on the global stage with a series of impressive performances at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“The World Cup was amazing, especially for us, the first African and Arabic team to reach the semi-finals. For me, personally, and for all of the players, it was a fantastic experience,” he said.

He then joked: “It was my second World Cup, I hope to play one or two more, I think with three I would be too old.

“But the nicest thing was the joy, the happiness we gave to the people all around the world, it was fantastic.”

Amrabat and Morocco have AFCON qualifiers against Liberia and Burkina Faso over the course of the next week.

After that, Amrabat will be looking to make his debut either in the Premier League clash against Brighton, or in United’s Champions League opener against Bayern Munich the following Tuesday.
