Napoli coach Rudi Garcia says Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be introduced in the second half as he’s still dealing with a knee problem.

The Georgia international starts on the bench in Napoli’s first home Serie A game of 2023-24 against Sassuolo.

He had missed their season debut against Frosinone last week due to muscle fatigue. However, during his pre-match interview with DAZN, Garcia said Kvara is dealing with a knee issue.

“He had some problems during the pre-season, he had a knock on his knee during a friendly, so he could play only a few minutes,” said the French coach.

“He didn’t train for 12 days, so he can’t play the whole game. I prefer to introduce him in the second half and, hopefully, he can make the difference. He is an exceptional player and it’s a joy to have him available for the second game.”

“We must put pressure on the opponents,” continued the Napoli coach.

“I see a very motivated team, with the serenity you need for these matches.”
