Nicolò Zaniolo’s mother Francesca Costa complains about ‘fake news’ on Italian media following his son’s move to Aston Villa.
The Premier League side confirmed Zaniolo’s signing on Friday, but hours before the official announcement, rumours had emerged that Aston Villa wanted to negotiate a new deal with Galatasaray fearing Zaniolo was subject to muscular problems after suffering two severe knee injuries over the last few years.
Zaniolo’s mother had her say on social media after the official statement from his son’s new club.
She posted a picture of one of Zaniolo’s typical celebrations, with the Italian putting his fingers in his ears, writing: “To fake news and to all you continue saying. Have a good start, you deserve this and much more.”
Zaniolo was among the first to comment, writing “I love you” and adding laughing emojis.
The Italian striker joined Galatasaray from Roma this past February and scored five goals in 11 appearances with the Turkish club. He has netted twice in 13 appearances with Italy’s national team.
His mother is spot on, there was plenty of fake news going around in the U.K. tabloids all week as is normal nowadays
Great to see us bringing in another really good player and receive back up from his beloved mother, wishing him a great time here at Aston Villa 👆, the only way is up Nicolo. UTV.
