Maurizio Sarri was bitterly disappointed with his team’s showing during their recent 3-0 loss against Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly and reportedly has not yet addressed his players since the final whistle.

According to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport, Sarri chose not to speak to his squad immediately after Thursday night’s loss in the Midlands and will instead debrief his team today.

Lazio were comfortably seen off by Unai Emery’s side at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium, with Sarri visibly irritated in the dugout.

Il Corriere notes how the former Chelsea boss lost his temper at certain points due to his side’s slowness in their movement and passing.

Lazio were seen off by goals from Olli Watkins and John McGinn, before a late own goal from Mario Gila rounded off a tough evening for the Biancocelesti.

New signing Valentin Castellanos travelled with the squad, but Daichi Kamada was not yet available to the team, nor was Luis Alberto, who stayed in Rome following a brief row over his contract situation.

Lazio flew to Spain on Friday afternoon and were met by Luis Alberto, who is now expected to rejoin training with the rest of the first team group. It is from there where Sarri will speak to his players for the first time after the tough test on Thursday.
