Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel admitted ‘its not easy’ for Yann Sommer as Inter push to complete a deal.

The Nerazzurri sold Andre Onana to Manchester United for around €57m last month and let Samir Handanovic leave on a free transfer, leaving them without any first-choice goalkeeping options.

Sommer has long been identified as their primary target but negotiations with Bayern Munich have progressed slowly, with the Bavarian giants also in the market for a new shot stopper.

Speaking at a press conference via Gianluca Di Marzio, Tuchel was honest when discussing Sommer’s situation at Bayern.

“It’s not easy for him to be completely free and confident. There is a desire on the part of the player, but we have to protect the interests of the club.

“He’s a great goalkeeper, also important for the dressing room. It’s not easy for him. He has a contract, obviously he could stay.

“But it’s normal for a player to have other thoughts. For now, he’s our goalkeeper and Neuer is looking to come back quickly.”

Inter are still waiting to welcome Sommer and are now seriously considering activating his €6m release clause, rather than pushing for a slightly lower fee in the region of €4-5m.

The Nerazzurri have also been linked with Anatoliy Trubin, but are starting to consider other options due to Shakhtar Donetsk’s asking price, like Sampdoria shot stopper Emil Audero.
