Atalanta and Manchester United have agreed to a transfer fee for Rasmus Hojlund, who is expected to move for €75m plus another €10m in add-ons, a total of circa £73m, more than originally thought.

Multiple sources this evening all confirm at the same time that the deal is effectively done.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the cost of the operation is €75m plus another €10m in various performance-related bonuses.

That would translate to £64.3m plus £8.57m in add-ons.

He already agreed personal terms, a five-year contract with option for a sixth, and had been pushing for the switch to Old Trafford, so a medical is planned within 48 hours.

Tuttomercatoweb suggest the wages are €5m net per season, compared to the €600,000 he was on in Bergamo.

Sportitalia are a little more vague on the precise figures, saying only it is at least €70m fixed fee and with bonuses will reach €80m, perhaps going over that.

La Dea never really wavered from their asking price, confident they were in a strong enough bargaining position to push the Premier League side all the way.

It represents a huge profit for the Bergamo boys, who only bought Hojlund from Sturm Graz a year ago for €17.2m.

Incredibly, Hojlund’s value has sky-rocketed in the space of 18 months, because Sturm Graz paid €1.95m to get him from FC Copenhagen in January 2022.

He scored nine goals and provided four assists in 32 Serie A appearances.

Atalanta already have the Dane’s replacement, because they completed the club transfer record signing of El Bilal Toure from Almeria for €30m including bonuses this morning.
