Maurizio Sarri is pushing to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi, but Lazio directors could drop the Chelsea winger having doubts about his fitness.

Sarri is a long-time admirer of Hudson-Odoi who scored five goals in 24 appearances under the Italian tactician at Chelsea in 2018-19.

Wednesday’s printed edition of Il Corriere dello Sport (page 17) claims the Biancocelesti boss wants to reunite with the 22-year-old at the Stadio Olimpico and is pushing for his signing, while FIGC’s decision to treat UK players as Europeans would allow Lazio to sign the English winger without filling a spot for non-EU footballers.

However, LaLazioSiamoNoi reports Lazio directors are unsure about making a significant investment in Hudson-Odoi, mainly due to his poor fitness. Hudson-Odoi suffered an Achilles tendon injury at Chelsea one year ago and didn’t play regularly while on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring one goal in 21 appearances.

According to the report, Midtjylland winger Gustav Isaksen and Jesper Karlsson of AZ Alkmaar remain high on Lazio’s agenda and would become their primary targets if they eventually drop Hudson-Odoi, who has also received an offer from Fulham.

  1. Nono , this isn’t the news we want to read Lotito. Berrardi isn’t coming now imagine if Sarris 2nd choice (Hudson-Odoi) doesn’t either where will that lead? C’mon… I wouldn’t have cared btw if the Alkmaar player would have been in Auronzo by now hut remember the other Az Alkmaar guy who was supposed to come ? Kerkez is now on the coast of England training with Bournemouth.
