Napoli seem to have narrowed down their search for Kim Min-jae’s replacement to Wolves centre-back Max Kilman, but face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Partenopei are just waiting for Bayern Munich to activate the release clause in Kim’s contract, which will see them pocket roughly €50m from the sale.

That cash will be reinvested in his heir in the centre of defence and after many options were mentioned in the media, most sources including the Corriere dello Sport are now focusing on Kilman.

The 26-year-old Londoner made his mark at Wolverhampton Wanderers and the asking price is believed to be €40m.

Napoli are not the only contenders for his signature, as Tottenham Hotspur are also eager to capture Kilman.

An initial offer from the Scudetto winners at circa €30-35m was rejected, but negotiations are expected to continue.

It would already make Kilman the most expensive defender that Aurelio De Laurentiis has ever signed at Napoli, considering Kim Min-jae cost €18m from Fenerbahce last summer and Kalidou Koulibaly just €17m.

Kilman, who has Ukrainian origins and was born in London, makes his strength in the air a focus, standing at 1.94m tall.
