La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms Sofyan Amrabat has a principle of agreement with Manchester United, but Atletico Madrid are also interested and the Morocco international is pushing to leave Fiorentina.

Wednesday’s printed edition of the pink paper (page 18) claims Amrabat has reached a verbal agreement with the Red Devils, but the Tuscans have received no offers yet.

A previous report from RAI Toscana claimed earlier this week that United would double Amrabat’s wages.

As highlighted by Gazzetta, Amrabat was close to joining Antonio Conte’s Tottenham for €16-17m in 2021-22, but Spurs never made a formal offer despite a verbal agreement reached by their ex-director Fabio Paratici.

Amrabat attracted even more suitors towards the end of last year when he shone with Morocco at the Qatar World Cup.

The 26-year-old pushed to join Barcelona on the deadline day this past January, but Fiorentina blocked his exit. Manchester United also made an offer to sign the Moroccan in January, according to the player’s agent. The Tuscans didn’t want to sell during the winter transfer window but seemingly promised Amrabat that he’d leave in the summer.

The Red Devils and Atletico Madrid remain interested in the central midfielder, who is eager to leave the Stadio Franchi. His contract with Fiorentina expires in June 2024, but the club hold an option to extend his stay by one more season.

According to Gazzetta, Fiorentina want €30m to sell the Moroccan midfielder and have targeted Sassuolo‘s Maxime Lopez to replace their star.
