La Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed some of the major details behind Marcus Thuram’s contract with Inter after officially joining on a free transfer on Saturday morning, including a substantial release clause, which will be active for the entirety of Thuram’s stay at San Siro.

Thuram, who spent four years on the books of Borussia Moenchengladbach before opting against renewing his contract, has penned a five-year deal with the Nerazzurri, running until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Over the course of that period, the 25-year-old will take home a base salary of €6m per season, excluding additional bonuses.

La Gazzetta also details that Inter and Thuram have agreed upon a €95m release clause, which will run until the end of the initial contract. The figure will not decrease over time.

The pink paper notes that the release clause is Inter’s way of locking down their new striker for the foreseeable future and demonstrates that the club are keen on keeping him for as long as possible, rather than viewing him as someone who could be sold on for a quick profit.
