Wednesday’s Sevilla vs. Roma predictions see the Giallorossi contend for a second consecutive European trophy. Jose Mourinho’s side come up against record Europa League winners in the Rojiblancos who will be looking to lift the trophy for the seventh time.

Sevilla vs. Roma odds

1 – Sevilla to win in 90 minutes – 17/10

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 11/20

3 – Only one team to score – 11/14

4 – Roma to win by one goal– 10/3

5 – Roma to lift the trophy – 1/1

The Europa League final kicks off on Wednesday evening, with Roma hoping to secure yet another trophy under Jose Mourinho. They have it all to do, however, as they are very much underdogs against Sevilla who have enjoyed a renaissance under Jose Mendillibar.

The Rojablancos were facing the prospect of relegation just three months ago when the club replaced Jorge Sampaoli with Basque coach Mendillibar. Under their new mentor, Sevilla have gone from strength to strength and are strong favourites to win Wednesday’s game within 90 minutes and lift a trophy that has almost become their property over the past decade.

Roma’s status as underdogs is unlikely to trouble Jose Mourinho. In fact, the coach almost prefers when the odds are not in his favour, as with Inter’s Champions League win all those years ago. Throughout this campaign, the Giallorossi have proven themselves to be a nightmare to play against, with the characteristically impenetrable defence of a Mourinho team.

Going into Wednesday’s game, Roma’s back three may have their backs against the wall for much of the match. But we back them to keep Sevilla largely at bay. A wager on a low-scoring game may well pay off, with Roma retaining a clean sheet in two of their last three Europa League away games.

Even if the Giallorossi succeed in protecting Rui Patricio’s goal, they face the difficult prospect of scoring themselves. With Paolo Dybala struggling for fitness, Roma are without their top scorer and key creative player – meaning they are unlikely to produce a scintillating attacking display.

If Mourinho is to lift yet another trophy it is likely to be by a narrow margin. We back a bet on Roma to win by just one goal, as they did in the UEFA Conference League final over Feyenoord last season.

Mendillibar is without Juan Jordan and Marcao, although Tanguy Nianzou may be fit to play a role by Wednesday. Erik Lamela is expected to start on the right wing over Suso, as well as Jesus Navas and Ivan Rakitic, while Alex Telles will play at left-back given Marcos Acuna’s suspension.

With Chris Smalling returning last week, Bryan Cristante will return to his spot in midfield with Edoardo Bove missing out. Mourinho may look to return to a front two, with both Andrea Belotti and Tammy Abraham playing, or retain his three-man attack with Giorginio Wijnaldum out wide.
