With his loan deal from West Ham set to expire at the end of the current season, Torino’s Nikola Vlasic is keeping his cards close to his chest over his future with either club heading into next season.

The Croatian international ended a barren spell in front of goal during the 1-0 win against Hellas Verona on Sunday afternoon, scoring for the first time since the start of the World Cup in November 2022.

After experiencing a goal drought following the tournament in Qatar, coach and compatriot Ivan Juric deployed the 25-year-old in a new role, playing significantly deeper than he had ever done previously.

Juric is said to be a fond admirer of Vlasic, and has previously expressed his desire to keep him in Turin for next season.

However, the club are still apprehensive about the transfer fee they negotiated with parent club West Ham in the summer window, which is currently set at around €15m.

Whilst keeping Vlasic at the club is the ideal situation, Torino are unlikely to pull the trigger on an official move unless they are able to reduce the suggested transfer fee.

Vlasic himself, meanwhile remains adamant that he is solely focussed on Torino’s remaining three Serie A fixtures and that a potential permanent move is not currently his priority.

When asked about his future after the win over Verona, Vlasic replied: “Let’s see, for the moment I’m only thinking about the last three games and then we’ll see at the end of the championship.”
