According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle United have sounded out the availability of Inter defender Denzel Dumfries.

The Dutch defender is one of the three stars who could leave the Stadio Meazza in the summer to aid Inter’s finances.

According to Gazzetta, Premier League side Newcastle United are among the clubs interested and have sounded out the player’s availability. His agent Rafaela Pimenta is believed to have held talks with several Premier League clubs over the last few months, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Red Devils are also interested in Dumfries’ Inter teammate Lautaro Martinez, but the Nerazzurri are unwilling to sell the Argentinean striker and won’t even listen to offers for him.

Unlike Lautaro, Dumfries, Marcelo Brozovic, or André Onana could leave the Stadio Meazza at the end of the season although the Nerazzurri may only sell one of them in the summer.

Dumfries’ price tag is believed to be in the region of €40m. The 27-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in a €15m deal from PSV in 2021 and has seven goals in 87 appearances under Simone Inzaghi.
