Juventus’ appeal against their 15-point deduction was partially successful earlier this month, but it hasn’t help them find an upswing in form.
The Bianconeri were docked 15 points by the FIGC court back in January for allegedly falsifying their capital gains through inflated player transfer values. They also handed bans to a number of current and former directors, including Andrea Agnelli and Fabio Paratici.
Juventus appealed this ruling to CONI’s Collegio di Garanzia, who decided on April 19 to temporarily annul the penalty pending a new trial, which could be delayed until next season. It was a partial success for the club, allowing them to shoot back up the league table to third.
Since that decision, however, Juventus’ form has failed to improve. Since beating Hellas Verona at the start of April, the club have only managed to pick up one win in seven outings across all competitions.
After being handed back the 15 points on April 19, Juventus have lost to Napoli and Inter, and were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting CP, a result that still allowed them to progress to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
The Old Lady only sit three points clear of top four hopefuls Milan and Roma, so they’ll need to return to winning ways fast if they want to secure a Champions League finish.
