Gian Piero Gasperini insists Atalanta are in good shape physically and ready to face Roma ‘with our characteristics and our strengths’ after a tactical switch.

It kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

“Atalanta were never in poor physical form, but to get a result against Roma we certainly need a great performance and we are ready,” Gasperini told DAZN.

There are reports that Gasperini changed the routine in the build-up to this match, doing extra morning sessions and also giving two days off to help the players recover.

It is a change of tactics with only Duvan Zapata upfront, supported by Mario Pasalic and Teun Koopmeiners, leaving Rasmus Hojlund on the bench.

“Every game is different, it is to be played over 90 minutes with our characteristics and our strengths. We need to play well in every respect, as Roma are a strong team and we must have all the components in place.”

Atalanta won 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico when these teams met in September, thanks to a goal from defender Giorgio Scalvini.

For the second match in a row, goalkeeper Juan Musso has been dropped in favour of Marco Sportiello.
