Juventus were furious that Lazio’s goal was allowed to stand and refereeing expert Luca Marelli believes they had a point on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s push on Alex Sandro.

The opener at the Stadio Olimpico arrived after 38 minutes when Mattia Zaccagni’s cross found Milinkovic-Savic for a chest and finish from six yards.

The Bianconeri wanted a VAR on-field review for Milinkovic-Savic’s push on Alex Sandro, but the officials in the booth stuck with the decision from Marco Di Bello.

Speaking on DAZN, former referee and current pundit Marelli had been practically certain there would be a VAR on-field review called.

“More than certainty, it was a hope, because the push was very, very obvious. VAR saw the incident, here was a long check and they decided to allow the goal because if the referee has the full view of the situation, the judgment is left to him.

“In my view, the referee did not see the push properly, he was too far away and it was an error to allow this goal.”
