There are more injury worries for Juventus after midfielder Fabio Miretti was stretchered off in agony, especially as there seemed to be very little contact.
The youth academy product earned a penalty to break the deadlock against Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi this evening, when his heel was clipped from behind by Hans Nicolussi Caviglia.
However, he went down in a great deal of pain clutching his left ankle after an accidental collision with Lassana Coulibaly.
The Salernitana player was jumping with his back to Miretti and there seemed to be some slight contact between his studs and the Juve man’s shin, but not enough to do any significant damage.
There were worrying scenes, as Miretti was down for a while receiving treatment, tried to stand up and immediately crumpled to the ground again.
He was then stretchered off visibly distraught with his hands covering his face, making way for teammate Nicolò Fagioli.
Initial reports from DAZN suggest it is most likely a sprain to the ankle and it had already swollen significantly over the half-time break.
The medical staff had even considered taking him to the local hospital for X-Rays, but are so far holding off.
Miretti has been a revelation for the Bianconeri this season, aged just 19 and already putting together 25 competitive appearances.
