Palmeiras have submitted an opening bid for Sassuolo midfielder Matheus Henrique as they prepare to sell Danilo to Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League side have agreed a €20m deal with the Brazilian club for Danilo, an exciting and impressive defensive midfielder. Palmeiras now need to find a replacement and have turned their attention to Italy, ready to take advantage of a tough situation in Reggio Emilia.

As reported by SportItalia, Palmeiras have offered Sassuolo around €6m for Matheus Henrique, a proposal the Neroverdi are unlikely to accept for the time being.

Sassuolo paid Gremio €4m to pick up the midfielder on loan in August 2021 and paid €8m to make his stay permanent last summer, meaning Palmeiras will likely have to raise their offer if they want to convince the Neroverdi of a deal.

Contracted to Sassuolo until 2026, Matheus Henrique has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season. After a positive start to the season, the Brazilian midfielder slipped down the hierarchies and has only made one Serie A start since September.
