Marcos Asensio, who has long been appreciated by Milan, discussed his plans for the future and a possible contract renewal with Real Madrid.

Rossoneri directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have had their eyes on the 26-year-old Spanish winger for some time now, believing he could be the perfect reinforcement for Stefano Pioli’s front line. Asensio has struggled for consistent minutes this season under Carlo Ancelotti and could depart the club on a free transfer next summer.

Speaking to Marca, Asensio discussed what his future holds with less than 12 months left on his Real Madrid contract.

“There are rumours that I’m changing Real Madrid’s mind, but I have always tried to give my best. Who decides is also the club, it doesn’t depend only on me. After the World Cup we will make a decision.”

The 26-year-old then commented on if he’d put pen to paper on a new contract with Los Blancos.

“I hope so, I’m very happy at Real Madrid and I hope to be so for many more years.”

Asensio, who has been with Real Madrid since 2015, has made 15 appearances across La Liga and the Champions League this season, for a total of 426 minutes of action. In that time, he’s scored three goals and provided three assists.
