Leeds United could clinch a deal with FC Zurich on Friday for Italy international Willy Gnonto at €5m plus bonuses, claim Sportitalia.

The teenage sensation will be 19 years old in November and already has four senior caps for Italy, in which he scored one Nations League goal.

A product of the Inter youth academy, he left as a free agent in 2020 to get regular playing time at FC Zurich and it proved effective, but now he is ready for the next step in his career.

Zurich had originally requested €20m for Gnonto and scared off all potential buyers, but with a contract to June 2023, have decided to lower their demands.

He is now available for just €6-7m, so Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains the offer from Leeds United is already very close.

Their proposal is now €5m plus bonuses for the versatile forward, who can play in any roles for the trident attack.

It’s reported that Friday will be the decisive meeting to whittle down the differences and perhaps strike a deal bringing Gnonto to the Premier League.

  1. Looks like the Premiership will do everything to ruin the young Italian players, no one else demands them like they do.

  2. @Antonio – your not making any sense – man left italy for switzerland so he could improve and now he may move to leeds – we dot know yet – as this is so far a rumor.

How many young italians have moved to england over the years? dont say darmian he wasnt young – cmon name them

  3. @Antonio?

    What?!

They’re not trying to ruin them. I’m sure they want them to work out. The only nation ruining Italian youth is Italy. Plenty of them could buy this guy, but they prefer some epl cast-off.

  4. £6-7m for this guy is so cheap! Come on Milan, you need a new RW, he’s one for the future! Snap him up quick…mamma mia!!!
