Napoli received a massive boost in the race for Kvhicha Kvaratskhelia, as Dinamo Batumi confirm he is no longer owned by Rubin Kazan. ‘We’d be happy if he joined a prestigious club like Napoli.’

The 21-year-old Georgia international can play a variety of attacking roles, on the left, right or supporting a striker.

He did have a big asking price at Rubin Kazan, but Russia’s invasion of Ukraine allowed foreign players to leave their clubs and go elsewhere.

Kvaratskhelia joined Georgian side Dinamo Batumi on March 24 and it had been assumed this was a loan, but it seems as if the situation is very different.

“His agent is an old friend of mine, he said we could sign Kvaratskhelia and we immediately said yes,” Dinamo Batumi director Lado Dvalishvili told SerieANews.com.

“We signed a two-year contract and in the summer we’ll see what interesting things will happen for the future. He will decide where to go.

“He signed an agreement with his former club to rescind his contract, so he joined us as a free agent and will not return to Rubin Kazan.”

The Dinamo Batumi chief was asked about the on-going reports of a move to Napoli.

“That is something you should ask him and his agent. I would be happy if he joined a prestigious club like Napoli, but I have not spoken to them.”

So far this season, Kvaratskhelia has scored two goals and provided five assists in 19 Russian Premier Liga appearances for Rubin Kazan.

He has five goals in 13 senior caps for Georgia and only turned 21 last month.

  1. So instead of focusing on young Italians Serie A’s top clubs are bringing in Georgians from the Russian league?!?! And people question why Italian football is in the state it is….

  2. young italians = raspadori, scamacca, fratessi, zaniolo, lovato, zalewski
    fratessi = contract extended
    scamacca = too expensive
    raspadori = too bad
    lovato = unsignable, too inexperienced
    zalewski = way too inexperienced

    Therefore, young italians at the moment are rather difficult to sign.

  3. @arjun if they want them they can sign them just like any other player. Italian players don’t have special contacts that stop them signing for other Italian clubs.

  4. @DINO: watch him play and you will understand there is currently NO ITALIAN player with his skillset.
