Claudio Ranieri has been officially dismissed as Watford coach after only 14 games in charge.

The Italian coach took over at the Hornets back in October but had a tough time in South England, only picking up two wins and one draw from his 14 matches in charge. He leaves Watford in penultimate place in the Premier League table, two points behind 17th place Norwich City.

Before joining Watford, Ranieri spent almost two years as Sampdoria’s head coach, overseeing 71 matches. He left the club last summer after failing to agree to a new contract.

The highlight of Ranieri’s time in charge of Watford was when the Hornets beat Manchester United 4-1 at home back in November, their last win under the Italian coach. He most recently suffered a 3-0 loss to relegation candidates Norwich City.

Fabio Cannavaro is one of the many coaches linked with the Watford job; the Italian coach is currently out of work after leaving Guangzhou FC in September.
