Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will officiate Milan’s Champions League match with Atletico Madrid, while Istvan Kovacs takes Shakhtar Donetsk-Inter.

UEFA’s top club competition returns next week and there are four Italian clubs in action, the two Milanese giants on Tuesday.

Milan host Atletico Madrid at San Siro and that game will have an all-Turkish refereeing team in charge, headed by Cuneyt Cakir.

He is assisted by Bahattin Duran, Tarik Ongun, fourth official Arda Kardesler and VAR Abdulkadir Bitigen.

Cakir has already officiated Milan twice, with a win and a draw in the 2013-14 season, while his record with Italian clubs and national teams is of 10 wins, four draws and 17 defeats.

As for Spanish sides, Cakir has overseen 23 victories, 10 draws and just eight losses.

Inter will be in Ukraine against Roberto De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk and that game will be officiated by Romanian Istvan Kovacs.

The assistants are Vasile Florin Marinescu, Ovidiu Artene and fourth official Andrei Chivulete.

The VAR is Marco Fritz.
