Udinese forward Stefano Okaka has claimed the Friuli are ‘better than before’ despite the poor return so far in Serie A.

The centre-forward grabbed a brace in the 3-2 defeat to Fiorentina on Sunday and said the Bianconeri have ‘improved’ their squad and is ‘positive for the future’ in Udine.

“As always, it’s important for me to score but above all to feel good on the pitch,” Okaka told Udinese TV. “If it happens, I do what I know.

“I can speak for what we do on the pitch and these are good things, better than before. We have improved the quality of the squad, but also our commitment and determination.

“We know Serie A is tough, but we aren’t afraid. We were aggressive today, I scored two goals and we created a lot, I’m positive for the future.

Udinese, who have only picked up three points in five games, continue with a home game against Vicenza in Coppa Italia before hosting Milan at the Dacia in Serie A.

“Losing is never good, especially when you play well, but that’s football,” Okaka added. “The Coppa Italia is an opportunity for us this year and then Milan arrive.

“We will give everything, regardless of the names we face."
