“It’s true that Atalanta also wanted me and they are in the Champions League, but I chose Toro for their history,” said Vojvoda in his press conference.

“I thank the President and director for the efforts they made to sign me. I spoke to Samir Ujkani and Jean-Francois Gillet, who both told me this was absolutely the right decision, as Toro are a great club.”

He already had his first training session with coach Marco Giampaolo and his teammates today.

“I got a very positive impression. There’s a lot of tactical work, which is good for me, because it means I can learn many new things.

“I can cover many different roles on the field. I prefer to play as a right-back, but for 10 years I was a centre-back, so can do both roles. I’m ready.

“Serie A is a great league and this is a big step up for me from the Belgian top flight.”
