After the final game of the Serie A season, Conte had complained in a television interview with Sky Sport Italia that there was ‘zero protection’ from the club for him or his players throughout the campaign.
It created tension behind the scenes that has still not entirely been resolved.
Zhang’s arrival in Germany is a good opportunity to smooth things over, show Inter’s support for the Conte project and try to keep these issues outside of the media in future.
It is also a chance to discuss transfer strategy after finishing second in Serie A.
