Lautaro has played 31 Serie A matches this term, contributing 13 goals and five assists in his second season with the Nerazzurri.

“I’m a boy who always fights,” the Argentine said in the Matchday Programme ahead of the clash with Fiorentina. “For my own goals, for those of the team and for the happiness of the fans.”

The 22-year-old has stepped up and helped fill the void after Mauro Icardi, who left the Nerazzurri last summer, forming a great partnership with Romelu Lukaku at San Siro.

“[Coach Antonio] Conte gave me confidence. It’s a very important and fundamental thing, because he worked on the mentality of each player.

“I appreciate it very much, every day he makes us grow.”

The rumours of a move to Barcelona won’t go away, despite having surpassed the deadline to trigger the reported €111m release clause, but Lautaro insists he keeps giving his all for the Beneamata.

“I always try to give 110 per cent for this club, for all the people who love it and for the Inter shirt,” he added.”
