Rumours have been swirling across Europe that Messi could genuinely leave the Spanish outfit following a very public spat with former teammate Eric Abidal.

Braida, who was a director of sport at both Milan and Barca during his career, believes it isn’t the work of science fiction to imagine Messi playing away from the Camp Nou.

“Personally I don’t think Messi will leave Barca,” Braida told Radio Anch’Io Sport.

“He is doing very well at Barcelona, athough I cannot rule out that one day he could leave.

“Who could buy him? Definitely the English teams, but even in Italy some sides might be able to.

“Messi would solve many problems in any team, without him, Barcelona are just another team.

“Where do I see him going? Milan!”

Braida went as far as to state that he could envision Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing together.

“They would have no problem playing in the same side because they are both great players.”

Braida then commented on former club Milan, who have went through a difficult season.

“There are many problems, it’s hard to say right now if there is one issue in particular. Would I have sold Krzysztof Piatek? He did very well last year, but he couldn’t repeat his success this season.

“If strikers don’t score goals, the team suffers. Piatek is a good player, but he isn’t a great one.”
