Matthijs de Ligt says he is ignoring criticism of his performances for Juventus as “I think I played well” against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Sections of the Italian Press have not been impressed with De Ligt’s early displays for Juve, more so given his status as the most expensive defender in Italian football history.

“I think I played well: I was solid and stable, and I didn’t do much wrong,” the 20-year-old told De Telegraaf after the Bianconeri’s 2-1 win against Lokomotiv Moscow.

“I think I played well: I was solid and stable, and I didn’t do much wrong,” the 20-year-old told De Telegraaf after the Bianconeri’s 2-1 win against Lokomotiv Moscow.

“I just had to do my job and that was defending. Lokomotiv had virtually no shots on goal.

“I worked more in the gym at Ajax than I do here, so that’s just a myth [that I spend too long in the gym].
