Italy U21 went with a strong squad that included Gianluigi Donnarumma and Federico Bernardeschi for the last edition of the U21 Euros in 2017.

However they went out to Spain in the semi-finals, going down to a Saul Niguez hat-trick in a 3-1 defeat.

The Azzurrini have been paired with La Roja, Poland and Belgium in Group A of the competition, which starts on June 16.

Consequently, the sextet are unlikely to be in the senior squad for June’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
