Italy are without a home victory in their last five attempts, equalling the worst ever run set from 1923 to 1925.

The Azzurri were held 1-1 by Ukraine in this evening’s friendly in Genoa.

That was the fifth consecutive stalemate on Italian soil after identical 1-1 draws with Poland, the Netherlands and Macedonia.

There was also a 0-0 with Sweden at San Siro in Milan in November 2017, which famously ruled them out of the World Cup.

Their most recent home success was 1-0 against Israel in a World Cup qualifier on September 5, 2017, hosted by Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium in Reggio-Emilia.

Only once before had the Nazionale failed to win five home matches in a row and that was between March 1923 and January 1925, with a streak of three draws and two defeats.
