Marek Hamsik’s agent confirms he’ll become an honorary Neapolitan citizen, and insists “no offer has arrived from China” for the Napoli captain.
It was reported by Il Mattino this morning that the Slovakian midfielder would be made an honorary citizen of Naples in a ceremony on May 17.
That honour has previously been afforded to club legend Diego Maradona, whose scoring record Hamsik broke earlier this season.

It was reported by Il Mattino this morning that the Slovakian midfielder would be made an honorary citizen of Naples in a ceremony on May 17.
That honour has previously been afforded to club legend Diego Maradona, whose scoring record Hamsik broke earlier this season.
“It’s an important thing for him,” Martin Petras, one of Hamsik’s agents, told Radio Crc.
“It’s a personal satisfaction because he’s spent a large part of his life in Naples.”
Despite his attachment to the club and city, there have been rumours that Hamsik could move to China in the summer.
“No offer for Hamsik has arrived from China. It’s normal that now everyone believes the Napoli project is over that they link Azzurri players everywhere but that’s all it is, just chatter.
“[Pepe] Reina’s contract was expiring so he’ll start an adventure with another club, but Hamsik has no reason to look elsewhere.
“Hamsik’s intention has always been to stay in Naples, and in recent years even better offers than Napoli have come in.
“He’s always been tied to the Azzurri, so there’s no reason to imagine a future away from Napoli.
“Coach Maurizio Sarri? I don’t know what Sarri will do at the end of the season. Of course there are cycles in football, but Hamsik has always carved out his role with every Coach.
“It’s true that he found an agreement with Sarri on substitutions, but I think he deserved to play for 90 minutes in some games.”
