However, it was reported that the affection of the San Paolo crowd had changed his mind, something his agent later confirmed, and now Reina’s father has also said his son will stay.

“I can confirm that Pepe will stay at Napoli – se queda [‘he stays’ in Spanish]!” Miguel Reina said on Radio Crc.
“Pepe is well-liked by everyone, and it’s further confirmation of his wonderful relationship with [Coach Maurizio] Sarri. I’m happy, this is very good.
“Pepe is happy in Naples, he has a wonderful relationship with the fans and he wants to respond to the affection the city has always shown him.
“Can he repair his relationship with the President? Both Pepe and [Aurelio] De Laurentiis are great, I hope they realise that the best way to prolong a relationship is to talk about it, never forgetting that respect is the basis for everything.
“Pepe is a great professional, he’s never thought of submitting a medical certificate [to get out of training] or anything else like that.
“He’ll always give 100 per cent for the shirt of the city he loves and has always loved.
“There’s a desire to win the League, it’s the dream of both the city and the team. Pepe will give his all for it, along with this teammates.”
